Watched the whole thing, that was very informative, I just took a test over some aspects of the Daoism(Tao), and many of the philosophical themes he explored came from it, when he makes that reference to water being able to suit all things he gets that from one of the founders of Dao, Lao Tzu. Lao Tzu wrote a book, Dao de Jing, to reflect upon what the Dao(Toe) is, in which chapter 8 states:
"The best (man) is like water. water us good; it benefits all things and does not compete with them. It dwells in (lowly) places that all disdain. This is why it is so near to Tao."
the bowl comment sounds like chapter 4 chapter it states:
"Tao is empty(like a Bowl) It may be used but its capacity is never exhausted...It blunts sharpness, It unties its tangles, It softens light..."
